SNe Ia modulus, distance & z data 1998-2004

This blog presenting several tables of supernovae type Ia modulus, distance & redshift previously collected and analyzed by astronomers. Here for convenience to use by all interested in really understanding the problems associated with analysis of SNe Ia data. We also present graphical representations of some of these data to help the reader understand the proper use of SNe Ia data.

Note that the magnitude values, m_B, were used by the Riess and Perlmutter groups to claim an accelerated expansion of the Universe. The magnitude, m_B, does not have a metric and MAGNITUDE IS NOT THE DISTANCE but the relative measure star/galaxy/SN brightness. The tabulated D_L (luminosity distance) is the SN Ia distance calculated from m_B.

When the SNe Ia data from Riess et al. 1998 are properly analyzed your graph should look something like this. Note the standard deviations are much larger at greater lookback. This is expected for distance data, but badly compressed by log transformation.
